Thursday, 12th December 2024 - Bauble Pattern

Events got changed this morning. Instead of a trip to Littleborne the chickens got cleaned out and their hopper feeder filled. The chickens rewarded me with a dozen eggs. I collected branches and twigs that were discarded across the garden by storm Darragh. Removal the monster slugs from the plates protecting my bulbs from mice and squirrels was best done with gloves. Yuk. It was good to be outside.

I made some bread and drank tea listening to my next murder mystery book.

I found bargain Chip Dry Port in Waitrose and continued by shopping into Tescos for drinks and prizes for the WOKAS Art Quiz Christmas party. It was surprisingly well attended which made for a jolly evening. I was on a team with Fani, John and Wendy. I think it was the copious plates of food we consumed that helped us to our first place victory.

Today's postcard is inspired by the pattern on a bauble Suzy gave me. It is the first Christmas decoration I have hanging above our woodburner. Very festive.

  1. I am so flattered to have received my own postcard from Kate - a wonderful vision for 2024 and a celebration of life for its joy in ordinariness. I love this postcard for its symmetry that appears to be joyously casual and yet is precisely organised. Personal to me, and unbeknown to Kate, the pink leaves remind me of the Oak Tree - a favourite tree of my late father, a countryman and chartered forester - so this will be proudly displayed in a frame later this afternoon alongside the postcard sent to my husband - card 103 - to be treasured beyond 2024. Thank you Kate for including me in your inspirational 2024 project. xx
