Thursday, 30th January 2014 - It's a Conspiracy

Tim and I went for a walk this afternoon.

Tom took me swimming this evening.

I think they feel the need to get me fit.

We are back from a fantastic holiday (working for some) in New York. This is what we got up to:-

Tuesday, 14th January 2014 - Been Swimming

Tom and I went over to Canterbury (Tom is reacquainting himself with the rules of roundabouts) We spent a most charming day with Harriet, Hetty and Bella. After lunch at Riverbend (and a snooze for Tom, Hetty and Bella) we went swimming. Hetty did not smiling the whole time. Tom and I returned home feeling a little tired out after trying to keep up with the girls - that includes Harriet.

Sunday, 12th January 2014 - Leap Pad Lesson

Rather a late waking this morning. I blame it on a late night last night where we discussed with Si (his idea), Lesley, June and Barry about buying one big house for us all with a nurse for our later stages in life. Then we decided this would make a good film and who would play us. Sandra Bullock for June. Gwyneth Paltrow for Lesley. George Clooney for Barry. A great evening digging in our memory banks to what music we listened to when we were 13 - why? Why not? Excellent food is served at Albans Barn.

Ewan, Kath, Chloe and Martha came to lunch. Jamie Oliver's tomato soup I can highly recommend for ease and it tastes good too. It was good to catch up with what the youngsters are doing. As well as what Chloe and Martha are doing. Chloe taught Tom a couple of games on her childrens tablet.

I had a bit of a sleep this afternoon. This evening I was thoroughly entertained by Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson.

Raining again.

Saturday, 11th January 2014 - Rye Roofline

A night lacking in hours of sleep but I was up and smiling serving beautifully poached eggs to a charming guest who is a friend of Jo Wolff who used to go to school with Tim.

A call from Mum and I worriedly drove to her aid. Thank goodness she did not need the oxygen and intravenous antibiotics at the Conquest that she had diagnosed herself with needing. Just a prescription for antibiotics and a bit of tea and company was enough of a healing treatment to leave me to come back home through the long long traffic jam in Rye. Hence todays picture as I spent quite a long time looking at the chimneys.

Tom is home but not much fun as he is asleep. I tried to wake him with tea.

Off to Si and Lesley's for dinner.

Friday, 10th January 2014 - Obvious Choice

Many minor worries kept disturbing my sleep so I awoke a bleary eyed beast in need of tea.

This afternoon James Blunt sang to me while I washed some of the weatherboarding at the front of the house to delight our guest.

This evening we have had a lovely time spent with Mike, Pippa, Sarah and Nigel at The Green Cross celebrating Sarah's birthday. We had coffee, some had more alcohol, back at Hallwood Farm. Pippa and I helped with outfit choices for Hannah's wedding in May. So many smart ties and pretty bridesmaid dresses to admire. It is all looking perfect Sarah.

Thursday, 9th January 2014 - Hazelnuts I and II

What a lovely day without a drop of rain. The Christmas Tree has a new pot and I have finished planting the tulip bulbs I got a couple of months ago. I also cleared out all my old diet books.

What a domestic goddess I have been but without the need for drugs, apart from caffeine.

Happy Birthday to Sarah.

I back-lit these nuts. Made it very difficult to see the colours in my paintbox.

Hazelnuts I

I painted these in normal light. Same nuts.

Wednesday, 8th January 2014 - Breaking Clouds

Hello

I have returned after a break from blogging. I sort of lost my enthusiasm but when I opened my paintbox and got out my brushes this evening it is back and so am I.

Today, ah today. An early start in the dark. Mum has a chest infection. Tom is in France ski-ing. Tim is out practising his half gyp which could turn into a galley. I went to meet Pippa at The Nutmeg (Tree?). The sun was doing a damn good job of breaking through the clouds. I could not resist.

We have a busy and exciting year ahead.

Happy New Year
