Saturday, 30th June 2012 - Tentertainment

How lovely to wake and remember our Granddaughter was staying with us.

We all went to Tenterden and enjoyed fruit and music.

Friday, 29th June 2012 - Roger's Flowers

An excellent day I have had.

The art class I go to was at full capacity. All six of us including the tutor. We sat in a lovely garden in Kilndown to paint.

Then when I got home Tim, Tom, Harriet and Hetty were there.

Wednesday, 27th June 2012 - While My Back Was Turned

I had just popped out to take a couple of car free guests to Scotney Castle.

I came back to find this going on in the garden.

Tuesday, 26th June 2012 - Kids on Swings

I had an unexpected invitation to see Harriet and Hetty today.

I collected Tom from the station (so good to have him home) and we to Canterbury to play in the park.

Monday, 25th June 2012 - So Near Yet So Far

My house is sparkling after a day of cleaning.

My newest guests have no car so I helpfully collected them from Sissinghurst Castle Gardens when it closed.

I should have gone earlier and had a look at the roses.

Sunday, 24th June 2012 - Edible Models

I think Harriet and Hetty had been eating superfruits to have completed The Race for Life in 30 minutes. Well done. And well done being the first buggy across the finish.

Saturday, 23rd June 2012 - Visitors at The Holt

The garden has been busy with birds.

Wasps have eaten their way through the ceiling on the landing again. I have scoured Tenterden and Cranbrook for wasp nest destroyer. I am planning another mission tomorrow. I just hope they stay dormant until tomorrow.

Thursday, 21st June 2012 - Last Chance

The rain is back today.

Patrick Holford is trying to get me eating properly.

This rose is slowly falling over. It maybe the last year we have its beautiful blooms - smells like sherbert.

Wednesday, 20th June 2012 - Mrs Mayhew's Daughter-in-Law's Garden

We went out in the sun for art today.

Sarah and I are feeling our age. We were a little concerned that once we had been seated on our blanket for an hour or so we would not be able to get up again. We managed to get up albeit rather slowly.

Tuesday, 19th June 2012 - Chantenay Pair

What a glorious day of sunshine.

Shows up all the cobwebs and dust in such a charming way.

I have been busy removing them.

We had our first carrot harvest. These two were entwined.

Monday, 18th June 2012 - Great Gifts

Four generations of girls gathered today.

My mum, myself, my daughter and my granddaughter.

We had a very girly day, partly due to the fact that we had no men with us. Lunch followed by shopping then tea and presents. Perfect.

Hetty was allowed to open her birthday presents from her Great Grandma as they don't get together very often. I thought I had done well spreading my last birthday over a week but Hetty's birthday is over a month away.

We had a lovely day and have some very precious memories.

Sunday, 17th June 2012 - Father's Day

While I was cooking breakfast for guests Tim was gardening - what a perfect pairing.

We went to see Dad in Peasmarsh Place for Father's Day. He would like to be at home with Mum.

Chris sent an intriguing gift in a box. It was chocolates for us to share. Thank you!!!

On the way home we visited The Oliver Family for a glass of wine. I learnt about The Gruffalo.

This evening I visited the newest arrival to The Blakemore Family and had a cuddle with 2 week old Elijah.

Saturday, 16th June 2012 - Some Still Standing

Our day was very well planned.

Work, followed by dinner with friends at The Bell and Jorrocks. I was really looking forward to the much recommended liver and bacon, and possibly a glass or two of wine amongst good company.

The wind caused an oak tree to cut off our power.

We could have left our guests confused and in the dark but were told it would be quickly rectified. Unfortunately, not that quickly.

I missed my liver and bacon.

Thursday 14th June 2012 - Buy One Later

Sarah and I went to The Wealden Times Fair today. Not one drop of rain. I did like Sarah's choice of clothes very much.

We saw a few things that we wanted to buy and decided to go back for them after looking round. June had a very pretty stand and good to see that Sophie was helping her mum - and for no wage too. The food, Pimms, tea, cake and company was glorious.

I had a lovely day - thank you for taking me.

Wednesday 13th June 2012 - Little Helper

The sun has been shining.

The hosepipe ban has been lifted.

I picnicked with Harriet, Hetty and their friends under the shade of a tree by the river.

We had to get back for a Tesco delivery and a cup of tea. Hetty made a good effort to try and eat her way through the shopping. I really think you should peel the oranges for her Harriet

Tuesday, 12th June 2012 - Stanley Egg

My morning was stretched out by guests wanting breakfasts very well space apart.

I went to Sarah's for a very important meeting with other bed and breakfast owners. It is good to share ups and downs, tips and advice.

Most have Aga's which are apparently very good for cooking eggs on.

Sarah tried....and unfortunately failed. That is what comes of not having the right equipment.

Monday, 11th June 2012 - Another Day, Another Supermarket

A very hectic morning feeding guests.

I went out for more supplies.

I ran out of brown sauce! Yes, I know it is one of those things one has in the storecupboard but my shelf was empty.

You can guess which supermarket I went to?

And more guests go and come.

We met Mike and Pippa at the Biddenden Food Fair. We shared a bottle of cider beside the vines.

Saturday, 9th June 2012 - Daler and Winsor

Another day of guests and some gardening in the sun.

Then we met with friends at The Bel and Jorrocks for an early evening drink.

In one of my Artists and Illustrators magazines there was an article describing a technique.

After two glasses of wine and a gin and tonic I thought I would give it a try.

After layers of Daler Rowney gum arabic, Winsor & Newton peat brown ink and black indian ink three times this is the result - oh and a shower!!!

Friday, 8th June 2012 - Silver Surfer

People went. I cleaned. More came.

Tim helped my dad, with his new glasses, to roam the internet. Mum thought he wanted to look up family history. But no, my Dad had other ideas. He needed to know how to cure his itchy back. I just hope he does not turn off his Lifeline as well as the computer next time.

It is the South East Open Studies for a couple of weeks. We visited a couple in Rye. Will Taylor does some amazing charcoal animals which he told us were just studies for future pictures. I was thinking about joining for June 2013 - I am having second thoughts now.

Thursday, 7th June 2012 - Patiently Waiting

I was having a day of trying to keep up.

My cleaner was not able to come and help me.

I had people going and more people coming.

The washing machine was constantly washing.

The ironing would have to be done another time.

Tuesday, 5th June 2012 - Diamond Jubilee at The Tower House

After a morning of work we went to The Tower House and watched last nights Jubilee concert at The Palace.

Madness playing 'Our House' on the roof were the best in my opinion.

Monday, 4th June 2012 - Thirteen Peals

Another Diamond Jubilee day. A colder but not so damp one.

Tim and I listen to Benenden Church bells peal at 11am. We struck out and had a 50p cup of tea too.

John and Innis put on a splendid BBQ - thank you for the sausages.

This evening we watched the Benenden beacon being lit.

Sunday, 3rd June 2012 - Fighting Back the Crowds

Hetty stayed the night. With Harriet and Brett. It was lovely to spend the morning playing with her. She enjoyed all the flowers in the garden even in the rain.

Then they left us.

Tim and I wandered into the village to enjoy the Diamond Jubilee Festivities.

Saturday, 2nd June 2012 - One of Three

The village is celebrating the Jubilee. One of the many activities is a walk of all the three pubs. Tony and Wendy needed some company.

We met with Harriet, Brett and Hetty in the garden of The Woodcock. Then we walked in the sunshine to The King William and managed to finish in The Bull.

Friday, 1st June 2012 - Networking

Following the B&B evening at The Bull on Wednesday we met up this morning to discuss business over a coffee.

Then I came home and cleaned after looking around two beautiful bed and breakfasts.

This evening we went with Tony and Wendy to Iden Green to watch a couple of bands. It was outside and started to rain so we retired to The Bull in Rolvenden. At 10am we were told it was last orders so we left. Not how the pubs were in our youth.
