Wednesday, 27th April 2022 - Bramley, Cox and Pear

Our fruit trees were growing long spindly shoots. They are covered in blossom so I requested advice and on the good authority of a fruit growing friend if the time was right to prune. They are now charming shapes. We will know when the fruit yield comes in whether the authority was good or not.

Sarah took me to the new Kypseli Taverna in Cranbrook for a belated birthday coffee and a shared Village Bap which was reminding me of its garlicky ways for the rest of the day. Thank you for my birthday treat.

Tuesday, 19th April 2022 - A Trio of Grandchildren

I deadheaded some daffodils. They are steeping in water and alum ready for an ink making session. I have two inky paintings ready in my head for an upcoming exhibition.

I spent the best (and it was the best) part of the day with my gorgeous grandson playing Lego. We collected the girls from school and had coffee and cake and the more delicious stilton and walnut scone with chutney outside in the sun at The Ivy Barn. I came home with gifts from their holiday in Scotland. I have put the Thistle cider in the fridge ready for tomorrow.

Saturday, 16th April 2022 - Sunset and Sarah

We met Sarah and Nigel at The Cellarhead Brewery for a bottle of wine and a jug of beer. Such a great place with amazing views towards Bewl Water. It was a good way to end the day.

Monday, 11th April 2022 - Birthday Excursion

My birthday was last Friday I have been celebrating for days. Now I am back.

Last Thursday Pippa picked me up and took me for a virgin visit to King Johns Nursery. I was treated to coffee and cake made with carrot and parsnip before a stroll with Pippa and Linda around the charming gardens. A lovely pre birthday treat. Thank you girls.

As always Pippa and Linda were happy to model for me.

Wednesday, 6th April 2022 - Reading on the Red Chair

It is the Easter holidays giving time for Harriet, Hetty, Raffy, Herbie and the gerbils to visit. Yesterday, the weather was charming enough for us to play and lunch in the garden. It was wonderful to see them all.

I have not done a pen and watercolour study for a long time as my grandchildren who were perfect models moved to Canterbury a year ago.

Monday, 4th April 2022 - April Landscape

A day of watching ink dry in layers using my homemade copper oxide, daffodil ink and seaweed ink. There is a glorious glisten from the salt and the oxide.
